Hakodate Japan
Hakodate is a beautiful city located at Oshima Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan.
The town itself it not big and mostly you are able to travel by train or by foot. This town is by the sea and you can find good seafood here. The price is far cheaper than Hokkaido. The town get quite during the night but we feel safe to walk around.
We visited Hakodate during the sakura. It was too beautiful to described. You can spend hours at the Goryokaku Park.
My advise for traveller who wish to visit this city, you must book the hotel in far advance especially during the festival or holidays period. I tried to book my hotel 3 weeks ahead but i found 99% of the hotels are fully booked except one hotel that is very fact away and it cost triple the price. Finally, we decided to delay our trip to Hakodate by couple of days. Even though we delayed, there are not many hotels available and we stayed two different hotel for the two nights.
We took the flight from Hokkaido to Hakodate which i remember correctly is about 30 mins flight with a small plane. You need to take bus from the airport to the city centre which is only 25 minutes away. However, i found it is more convenience if i would take a train from Hokkaido to Hakodate (about 4 hours) The train station from Hokkaido is right at the city centre which most hotels located and it reach at the city centre of Hakodate. If you take flight you need to take train from Hokkaido city centre to the airport, i think it is about one hours. We took ANA Air which is very reasonable price compare to train. So do your homework and you decide which way is the best suite you.
Even this is a small town of Hakodate, if i ever visit Hokkaido again, yes i will visit Hakodate again.
